FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A lucky couple has won their dream wedding in Portland.
The winners of the Real Maine Wedding contest were announced today at the Maine Wedding Association Bridal Show in Freeport.?The announcement comes?after a months-long process of couples submitting videos to be voted on by the public. The winners are Alyssa Kavanagh and Nick Planeta. The couple attended Colby College in Waterville together. They say Portland is special to them because they would meet there after Nick graduated from Colby and Alyssa was still in school. During that time, Nick's father was battling pancreatic cancer, and the couple says that experience solidified their relationship.
The couple will wed on November 2nd. The ceremony will be held at Grace Restaurant in Portland, and the reception will be at the Holiday Inn By The Bay. The wedding package is valued at up to one hundred thousand dollars.
This is the second year Real Maine Weddings Magazine is holding the contest. Last year, Laura and Nolan Hood won the contest. They were married in Freeport last fall.
